Presence Management & Time
Presence Management has been talked about a lot recently in journals, web postings, countless forums and blogs. The term is defined as the ability to communicate your availability and location, not just to other people, but also to other applications.
When someone trying to communicate with you knows that you are in a meeting until 11am, it gives that person a choice of sending you a detailed message, or speak to someone else who may be able to assist you. Presence Management can also communicate where you are and how you can be reached. It will be integrated into your calendar and will be aware of your activities. Automated Attendants don’t have to blindly transfer a call to your extension if you are not there. Colleagues who dial your extension won’t simply get your voice mail. Calls can be redirected to your current location, or broadcast on multiple numbers to make sure that you are reached. Being connected means you have less on your desk when you return there, thus providing you with more time to focus on strategic activities.
