Job Summary
The Sales Engineer (SE) position is the focal point of technical responsibility within the Sales organization for all pre-sale customer engagements. SEs are expected to have complete product knowledge and ability, technical sales ability, and in-depth networking engineering knowledge (including design and troubleshooting). SEs are technical interface between the Sales organization and all other company departments.
Paired with the regional sales representatives, the SE is responsible for opportunity qualification, product demonstrations, technical presentations, on-site product installation, training, support and coordination with post-sales services, thus traveling is required.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Assist sales representatives in qualifying sales opportunities
- Conduct product demonstrations and technical presentations remotely or at customer location
- Travel to customer sites to implement our products into their systems architecture including installation and customization or upgrades of both hardware and software
- Provide on-site training to customers and partners about use and administration of our products
- Work with channel partners to successfully meet the regional targets
- Work with professional services to ensure timely resolution and closure to customer escalations
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Review, testing and creation of content for our technical knowledge base
- Creation of customer deployment reference documents
- Direct interaction with Product Development group on behalf of all external organizations and customers
Requirements:
- The SE should be capable of handling technical issues for any degree of complexity with minimal need for supervision or assistance
- Expert knowledge of TCP/IP and HTTP
- Familiar with user authentication technologies and software such as LDAP, and Active Directory
- Technical sales experience, particularly RFP/RFI and presentation experience
- Intermediate level knowledge of SSL and DNS Admin required
- Experience with Windows Networking
- Demonstrated experience with network devices (routers, switches etc)
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills required - both oral and written, with the ability to articulate and educate customers about complex technology in a simplified manner
- Ability to diffuse complicated technical and political situations with enterprise customers
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant work experience
- Undergraduate computer science degree or equivalent work experience recommended
